TRADE WARS
Trump today signed harsh tariffs on imports coming from Canada, Mexico and China. These three countries have already made retaliatory moves, indicating that we could be entering a full-blown trade war.
What did Trump expect by the way?
“There could be some temporary, short-term disruption, and people will understand that,” Trump said Friday when pressed by reporters on the cost of tariffs being passed on to importers and, by extension, consumers. “But the tariffs are going to make us very rich and very strong — and we’re going to treat other countries very fairly.”
So Trump believes the tariffs will make the US very rich and very strong… if only it were that simple! I intellectually broke down Trump 2.0s stated intentions and plans in the piece below.
